"I...am a monster. While I can emulate feelings, I have neither dreams nor honor."
-Genesis Rhapsodos-[/center]
Genesis Relationships
Penello (Good Acquaintance):
"Such a pure heart...Never let go of that. There are too few who have such a gift, and even fewer who can keep it."
Genesis, although only a recent aquantance with the young woman, he already has a degree of trust in the young woman. Won over by her honest and seemingly innocent nature, The Red Knight sees the young woman as a pure-hearted and kind person, something that is an increasingly rare trait amongst mankind (from Genesis perspective).
Genesis is, however, not without his doubts: he knows what many think of the wing of jenova, and is unsure of how Penello would react if she became aware of his curse. This, in turn, gives his interactions with her an edge of secrecy.
Cloud Strife (Guilty Guardian):
"To you, who have given so much to protect the planet, I offer my thanks. Now live your life as you choose, and allow me to protect the people that I have hurt so deeply."
The history between Genesis and Cloud is a deep one. A force that has perhaps been both a massively positive and negative force in Genesis life, despite Genesis only recently becoming aware of this fact.
Cloud Strife and the suffering endured during his life are, according to Genesis, a product of his own actions. Everything that happened due to Genesis defection from SOLDIER had, in some way, impacted the life of Cloud Strife (even though he would ultimately be unaware of it). The meeting of Zack and Cloud, The Nibelheim incident in which Sephiroth killed clouds family, the death of Cloud's best friend and mentor, Zack Fair...
All of these things happened because of Genesis actions.
Genesis, at first upon awakening, had intended to personally apologize to Zack as one of his first actions. however, realizing that Zack had died long before Genesis had awakened, Rhapsodos ultimately felt that the doorway to redemption had been closed, and that whatever hope he had of being forgiven was ultimately destroyed.
Rather then descend into despair and madness, however, This spurred Genesis into action: Cloud and Zack had both paid their debt of heroism to the planet, and Genesis had not. Therefore, Genesis devoted his life to protecting the planet, if only to attempt to atone for his crimes against Cloud, Zack, and mankind.
However, little does Genesis realize that one day his conclusions might end up causing him to cross swords with Cloud, and force him to confront that which he has avoided for so long.
Sephiroth (Opposing Force):
"I failed you once, old friend. Now, I will save you in the only way I know how: By killing you."
Sephiroth is the absolute antithesis of Genesis. While both were born from the same cells of JENOVA (and were even friends at one point) Their goals, motivations and even personalities have ultimately deviated to make them enemies of each other. While one strives to safeguard mankind, the other seeks to destroy it. Where one seeks to redeem himself, the other seeks absolute vengeance.
While it is currently unknown if Genesis and Sephiroth have confronted each other since their last meeting at Nibelheim, It is a fact that they are seeking each other out. What their reaction to one another is, and how their encounter will remain a mystery until their fateful reunion occurs...
Or what Sephiroth may have planned for Genesis.
Aeris (Aerith) Gainsborough (Guilty Guardian):
"...I can only destroy. Being cut from the cloth of JENOVA, this was the one function that I inherited above all others. You, however, can create. That is a gift I could never hope to achieve."
Like cloud, Genesis has a firm belief that he owes Aeris far more then he could ever possibly repay. Unlike Cloud, however, Genesis not only has a slight degree of guilt regarding the situation, but also a deep-set fear of confronting her.
The reason is much like the reasoning behind why Genesis owes cloud: for the red knight feels responsible for perhaps one of the most tragic events that Aeris may have ever had to face: The death of Zack Fair.
The debt grew even higher to Genesis when, during his deep slumber within the planet, saw the death of Aeris. A death created by Sephiroth which Genesis logic forces him to see as a death he is directly responsible for.
Even more profound to Genesis is the link that seems to have formed because of this: the red knight sees Aeris as a sibling. Someone who is among the few that have seen the planet's lifestream and can hear the words of the goddess and gaia.
As such, Genesis has made a tremendous effort to keep Aeris existence a secret from DEEPGROUND. For to him, she is the only one capable of creating peace upon the war torn planet that Genesis feels responsible for.
So, from the shadows, he watches over her like a guardian angel, so close and yet so far, destroying the evil that would hide in her footsteps...
