-Seas on the outskirts of Besaid Island, 8:15am-
Pain.
That was what Genesis felt as he shifted uncomfortably on the cot in his private rented cabin. The exact location of the pain was could be described loosely as "everywhere", but primarily the most notable location was Genesis left side, right on top of his ribcage. Then again, there was one thing Genesis had to consider when feeling this pain.
That no more then a day ago, he had taken on Sephiroth and not only survived, but actually managed to repel the one-winged angel.
To the few that knew about the harbinger's existence, that was quite an acheivement. Sephiroth was considered by some to be one of the strongest being to exist, not to mention one of the best swordsman. This was evident because although Genesis had trained against Sephiroth a great deal in his youth, he had never actually managed to win against the legendary (ex)soldier.
Until now.
Still, as was apparent by his injuries, the battle had not come without great cost. Genesis, in this prior encounter, had given the battle everything he had in order to win, and now he was greatly weakened: Genesis was probably at about less then half strength now, as his body was using most of its strength to compensate for the severe damage it had taken.
And his journey did not leave any serious amounts of time for him to recover. After the shocking revelation he had found in moonflow, Genesis couldn't stop. Not when he had the feeling that something of a highly sinister nature was looming over the horizon.
It was also this that had brought him to where he was now: on board a small, private transport ship, heading to an island known as "Besaid". This was where Genesis had heard the great summoner, yuna, lived for some time.
He also heard that, as of now, A monster was plauging the small village isle. A Serpentine sea creature of unknown origin, not native to the area. Savagely powerful and large, some people had given it a rather legendary name:
"Leviathan"
Information about it had spread quickly around besaid and, through traveling merchants, to the big city. The creature had quickly become a target for numerous hunters, few of who returned with their lives. None returned with success.
This was why Genesis decided against spending some time to recover his wounds: this event was far, far too similar to the one that he had just delt with days ago to be coincidence. Not native, unusually strong for local monsters, highly agressive ambush predator, and so many other things matched up. Knowing this, Genesis had a feeling that the Leviathan would become a serious threat to the local village and, if unchecked, might become a serious threat not only to the village, but local sea-faring vessals as well.
Not all of his reasons were so philanthropic, however.
In his last encounter with a similar creature, Genesis had failed to obtain any evidence from the creatures remains, as he had allowed the girl he was working with to take the item the creature had dropped so she could repair her ship. A kind gesture, but one that Genesis was starting to regret due to the constant pain he was in from his past wounds in battle. Now, wounded and weakened, he needed to kill this creature in the hopes that he could obtain enough evidence to mobilize the WRO back on gaia. Worryingly, it would also prove Genesis theory regarding the existence of these monsters to be correct.
Genesis found his thoughts interrupted by the sound of a knock at his door. sitting up on his cot (which in turn caused a shot of pain to radiate through his left side) Genesis quickly put his red coat on to disguise his bandaged wounds.
"Come in" the red knight ordered flatly. a second later, the door to the cabin slowly opened, and a rather grizzled middle-aged man stepped through: to be precise, the captain.
"We're comming up to port in fifteen minutes. My apologies, but ill need you to be ready to disembark immediately: there have been reports of a large, dangerous monster in the area, and I really can't risk my crew and ship staying here longer then we need to."
"I understand. That's actually why I'm on this ship: Ill be exterminating that monster for you."
The captain got a rather curious and worried look on his face once Genesis said that.
"Wait a second, your the only one on this ship other then my crew, does that mean you plan on taking on that beast alone?! are you out of your mind?! its already killed at least ten hunters, some of them were in groups of four! What do y-"
"I am well aware of the risks, captain. I do not need you lecturing me on the nuances of hunting monsters." Genesis quipped back. Normally, the red knight would have been a little less angsty about such advice, seeing as how the captain seemed genuinely worried about him, but the injuries Genesis was carrying around made him somewhat less tolerant of things then usual.
The captain, rather then try to argue with Genesis, simply shook his head and shrugged his shoulders. then, turning around, the middle-aged man made one last statement before he left Genesis cabin.
"Whatever. Its your life, not mine. Just be ready to leave in ten minutes. Unlike you, I'd rather not risk my life and crew for something so foolish."
And with that, The captain left the cabin, leaving Genesis to his business. At this point, Genesis grabbed his coat and pulled out a roll of bandage. He would need to rebandage his wounds, lest the pain worsen or the wounds get infected. Even something small like that could make a huge difference in the battles to come.
Seeing as how Genesis needed all the help he could get, It was only logical that he do something like this now. Otherwise, the red knight believed that he would pay the price later.

-Besaid Island docks, 8:35am-
The sun was gently peaking over a nearby hill as Genesis stepped off the boat, rebandaged and ready to go. The still sea air replaced by the smells of sand and life, Genesis took a deep breath as he stepped off the boat and onto the docks. For he knew that things were about to get difficult.
The reason for this was that the red knight was keenly aware of the fact that he was only one man sent to fight a gravely feared monster: One unknown man stepping away from the big city where he could be anonymous to a small isle where everyone knew each other. A small isle where it could be difficult to keep a secret.
Though that was not the red knight's immediate concern: He was supposed to meet a black mage here who would fill him in on anything regarding the leviathan that had changed since Genesis was on the ship. While the red knight knew that the creature was rumored to live in an underwater cave somewhere near the island, he was still unsure of exactly what the creatures habits were: when it was active, when it slept, etc. This was supposed to be what he would learn from the black mage who, from what Genesis could see, was not here.
It didn't help that the only description he had was that the person was "black mage" though, and that the red knight did not even have the name of his contact.
So, as the ship and its crew quickly began unloading onto the dock, Genesis crossed his arms and lead his back against one of the massive crates set on the dock. He would give the mage a little bit more time. Though Genesis did not realize that he might have already overlooked his contact...
And that it might lead to quite some awkwardness in the near future.
