The bright pyreflies twirled about over the ruins, as if in some intricate dance before evanescing into the starry night sky. It was eerily beautiful. But not as beautiful as it had been a thousand years ago- or at least he thought. The memory of Zanarkand in it's prime was forever burned into his memory. Especially the blitzball tournaments and concerts that were hosted there. A sad smile tugged at the blonde's lips for a moment. It all seemed like a distant memory now, rather than his life. Had it really been that long since he'd lived? At the thought of his death, Shuyin's expression fell. How could he have failed to protect her? No, how could he have gotten her killed in the first place? Though a part of him blamed the war and corruption of Spira (and always would), another part of him knew that it was partially his fault they had both been murdered.
"Lenne...where are you now?" He whispered quietly. His voice seemed too soft and broken to be from the vengeful spirit known as Shuyin. Those deep blue eyes held a sadness and agony that was usually masked with anger and insanity. In his opinion, those despicable acts he'd committed were justified. He loved the songstress so much, but his loneliness and infuriation had consumed him over the thousand years he'd lingered on. The former blitzball star took a seat atop a small hill which over looked the once-great city, letting a small sigh escape him. He didn't know what had happened to him now. Hadn't he faded away into the Farplane with Lenne? That's what he wanted, anyway. Had it all been a dream? He wasn't deceased now, but he wasn't quite alive either. Shuyin was positive that he couldn't go on for another thousand years without seeing Lenne's smile or hearing her voice. She was his life- here or in the Farplane.
Looking down at the ground, he felt his eyes stinging slightly. Without her...what was the point of even existing? He'd allready tried to eliminate the wickedness and evil in Spira and failed. This must have been his punishment for not being able to rescue her in Bevelle. Even as he felt tears welling up, Shuyin's expression twisted into one of rage. He refused to be a failure. After looking out at the rubble for a long while, he slowly stood up and took a deep breath. He would find Lenne again- and this time it wouldn't take a thousand years.

A pair of boots walked silently across the ground, heading towards the once proud city of Zanarkand. Which for a thousand years has been silent, and in ruins. It had been here where she had come to get the final blessing to defeat Sin, here where she and her former guardians had come to sit and just reminise about the past. It was also where she and Tidus had sat, watching the pyreflies that danced among the ruins. Souls that had been forgotten, and roaming the place they once called home. But this was also where Lenne and Shuyin had lived when the city had been alive with life, Tidus used to tell her stories but they had all be fabricated. He had come from a dream Zanarkand, and when he disappeared it had broken her heart into pieces. Yuna never gave up though, she kept hope alive in her heart and she got her wish. Except now, she had gotten seperated from Tidus once more.
Stopping at the entrance of the city, she felt like a familiar presense was here. She had just come from a previous battle with a couple of fiends, which still roamed these ancient ruins. And the sphere she was wearing was that of the songstress, Lenne was no longer inside the dressphere since her spirit had moved on. Hopefully her and Shuyin were peacefully in the farplane, but with the recent news she has been hearing it made her wonder. What if they came back to the living, it would be chaos all over again. And everything she and her friends had done would have been a waste of time. Heading into the ruined city, she noticed the pyreflies that were dancing all over the place. She turned her attention the hill where she had sat as a summoner, with everyone around her.
So many memories, some painful and some good. This place still yanked at her heartstrings, and made her want to cry. All the souls that were still unsent, and forever lingered here. As she made her way towards the hill, Yuna stopped and if anyone was to look at her. You would see her face was as pale as a ghost, there standing at the top of the hill was a familiar blond. She could feel her heart start to race, moving a little closer then stopping she thought for a minute that it was Tidus. Who might have come here for some closesure or something, but looking the blond over again she knew very well who it was. First Seymour, now Shuyin. Who was she going to see next, her father.
"I didn't think I would see you again, Shuyin". Yuna didn't want to anger him, and hopefully he would not mistake her for Lenne again. When she had gone to the farplane, it had been Lenne's spirit which called out to Shuyin. After all she was wearing the songstress attire, putting her hands behind her back she waited to see what he would do or what he would say.

Shuyin didn't notice another's presence until he heard footsteps behind him. He turned to face the newcommer slowly, with an alomst bored expression on his face- figuring it was another fiend. However, his face lit up as he recognized the songstress attire. A rare, genuine smile appeared on his face for a brief moment, though it dissapeared just as quickly. This time, he was able to see that the woman was not Lenne. Before, he had mistaken the woman known as "Yuna" for his lover in his rage and clouded judgement. When he had seen before that she was not Lenne, it angered him even further. He felt his allready tattered heart being torn apart even more so, though none of this shown upon his face. He looked surprisingly calm for one who could snap at any second. Shuyin still hated Spira with a passion, though it seemed that now he was abiding by Lenne's wishes. At least for now. Wherever she was, he didn't want to upset her- even if he disagreed with her on the issue of the still-warring country. He wanted to destroy Spira and start anew, while she didn't feel the need to do so.
Looking over Yuna, he could once again see the similarities between her and the songstress. Though he knew firsthand of her fighting spirit, she also held that innocence that Lenne had. A beautiful, pure innocence in a world that didn't deserve it. "You aren't the only one. He said with a half-hearted scoff, shaking his head slightly before glancing back at the ruins for a moment. "I thought I had faded, too." Shuyin added quietly, turning back to her. He wished he had. A life without Lenne was barely worth living at all. He stepped down from the hill, slowly approaching the summoner. His words and movements weren't hostile, and yet both still managed to seem unfriendly. "...You're the one I met in the Farplane, aren't you?" For a brief second, his expression flickered to one of anger. She was the one who had ruined his plans to use Vegnagun and end the fighting once and for all.
But then again...she was also the one who brought Lenne back to him. Though the reunion had been short-lived, he was grateful for the momentary happiness it brought him. For a thousand years he had been in lonesome agony, searching for Lenne without success. To him, it seemed that any break in the despair was worthy of his thanks. He seemed to calm down again, though he didn't smile. At the moment, it almost felt like he never would again. "You brought Lenne back to me. For that I suppose I should thank you." Even as he spoke the words which sounded cheerful, his face told another story. He and Lenne were seperated again, much like Yuna and Tidus were once more.
The Unsent decided to steer the subject away from the songstress before his emotions controlled him again. He looked out at the ruins again, seeing it's former glory in his mind's eye. "A thousand years...so much has changed. And yet...some things never did. They fought over nothing back then, and they still are." He mused to himself before adressing Yuna again. "Why protect it? This pitiful world?" He asked, his tone struggling to remain calm and not become filled with anger.

He hadn't seemed to notice her just yet, but as she got closer that was when he turned. For a few seconds she had seen that all too familiar smile spread across his lips, but it soon disappeared as he seemed disappointed. Yuna didn't manage to fool Shuyin this time, and she didn't want to. With all the rage the young man had built up inside of him, the whole time when Lenne was inside the sphere. Shuyin chased her, hoping to be reunited with his long lost lover. That was why in the Farplane, she had thought he was Tidus and he had thought she was Lenne. Yuna just seemed to stand there not saying anything, had Lenne managed to change Shuyin's mind about destroying Spira or now that he was back is it still a option. He couldn't have Vegnagun again, she, Rikku and Paine made sure that horrible thing didn't hurt anyone again.
She watched as he seemed to look away from her, then back again. In a way Yuna did look like the former summoner/songstress from the ancient Zanarkand, except Yuna had short brown hair and Lenne had long with beads in it. Also Lenne had well, she wasn't sure what color eyes she had. And herself, she had one green and one blue eye which made her unique. As she mentioned that she thought she would never see him again, Shuyin responded back to her. " You did fade, the both of you into the Farplane". The way he spoke was not on friendly terms at all, they seemed to hold a bitterness to them almost cold like. Probably because Lenne had yet to appear out of the Farplane, or was already somewhere else in Spira.
What baffled her is that this makes two now, two people who have come back from the Farplane. Just what was going on, it also seemed that more fiends were showing up as well. And what of these odd worlds which have appeared, Yuna had already met a blond boy named Roxas in Rabanastre. Colored eyes watched as Shuyin he slowly stepped down the hill, coming towards her. Asking if she had been the one he saw in the Farplane before, or rather met. "Yes I was, though it had been Lenne's spirit which tryed to control my body. She tryed to reach out to you, speak to you but she couldn't. I felt like I was frozen, not knowing what to do". Yuna took a few steps back from Shuyin, knowing he was angry at that time.
Why did he have to look so much like Tidus, with just a few minor changes. When she and her friends went to confront Shuyin, and as he was about to destroy them. It had been Lenne who finally showed herself, and calmed the vengeful spirit down. Yuna could see that Shuyin was trying to contain his anger from exploding, a thousand years was a long time to wait for someone you love to return to you. Rikku explained to her after that concert, she was seen singing with Lenne. That the images had changed to those of the spirit's memories, Yuna had been unaware at that time until she finally knew the story of the lover's tragic past. " Lenne fought to get back to you, and she did when you tryed to destroy me and my friends.......all of Spira with Vegnagun".
She never thought she would hear a thank you, maybe it was time for a wardrobe change. Snapping her fingers, the songstress outfit vanished and was now replaced by her gunner outfit she usually wore. Listening to Shuyin speak, she lightly sighed. Yes alot has changed in a thousand years, Sin came and destroyed villages. And of course fights broke out after that between New Yevon and the Youth League, no thanks to Shuyin possessing the bodies of Nooj, Gippal and Baralai. As he turned back to her, she listened to his question. "Because this is our home, we live here and we try to protect it the best we can. You know, I used to be a summoner. My father was one as well, I had to defeat Sin and bring the calm. My father sacrificed himself to defeat Sin. But I wonder, why has the Farplane sent you back and are you sure your still unsent or are you truly alive. They say second chances can happen".
